The ICIDS program is managed by Project Manager Terrestrial Sensors (PM TS) and its subordinate product management office, Product Manager Force Protection Systems (PM FPS). ICIDS is a highly secure, standardized Intrusion Detection System (IDS) that uses commercial technology to detect and assess unauthorized intrusion of protected areas, including worldwide Army facilities such as conventional, intelligence, biological, and chemical sites of all sizes. It does so by coordinating near real-time assessment and rapid flexible response to existing, imminent, or emerging threats. The ICIDS architecture accommodates remote monitoring of intrusion, chemical, biological, and radiological agents.
Over the years, PM FPS has installed progressively more advanced ICIDS versions (both within and outside of the continental United States). Presently, there are 31 ICIDS-III and 22 ICIDS-IV systems still in operation.
“Installations that employ ICIDS are extremely pleased with its performance and the support that we provide in preparation for, during, and following each system fielding,” said Lt. Col. Curtis Brooker, the Product Manager for Force Protection Systems. “ICIDS has a proven track record as a force multiplier for ensuring the security of our Soldiers, their families, and the Installations on which they operate.” With the current contract award, PM FPS will embark on ICIDS-VI fielding, enabling its customers to continue to employ the very best standardized intrusion detection capability globally.
