PM Navigation Systems’ Welcomes New Leader

The organization responsible for ensuring situational awareness and preventing fratricide for troops in the field witnessed the start of a new era as the project manager for Navigation Systems (PM Nav/Sys) assumed command during a ceremony held at Aberdeen Proving Ground (APG) on July 29.

Col. Christopher Davis, PM Nav/Sys, accepted the reigns of the organization from Brig. Gen. Harold Greene, Program Executive Officer for Intelligence, Electronic Warfare & Sensors (PEO IEW&S) during an Assumption of Charter ceremony at the Mallette Auditorium – Mission Training Facility.

Davis will lead a team that is composed of a product manager for GPS and a product manager for Joint Combat Target Identification-Ground (JCTI-G), both located at APG. Additionally, as the PM for Nav/Sys , Davis will serve as the Chief of the GPS Current User Equipment Division at the GPS Directorate, Los Angles AFB.

As the newest project manager for Nav/Sys Davis will take on the leadership role for an organization that has fielded close to 500,000 critical systems in recent years. PM Nav/Sys products touch virtually every Soldier on the battlefield, with a combination of GPS devices and Joint Combat Identification Marking Systems (JCIMS) on their persons or in their vehicle as well as providing meteorological data for artillery targeting with the Profiler system.

Prior to his assignment at PEO IEW&S, Colonel Davis was assigned to the Office of the Secretary of Defense responsible for directing staff activities concerning oversight of 102 Major Defense Acquisition Programs for the Director, Acquisition Resources and Analysis serving the Undersecretary of Defense (Acquisition, Technology and Logistics), Pentagon, Washington, D.C.

Colonel Davis’ other assignments include: Commander, Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA), Aviation Integrated Maintenance Operations Enterprise; Commander, DCMA Northern Iraq; Director, Contingency Contracting Division, US Army Contracting Agency- Pacific Region, Fort Shafter, HI; Contingency Contracting Officer, Division Support Command, 25th Infantry Division, HI; Assistant Product Manager Apache, Program Executive Office Aviation, Huntsville, AL; Chief, Aviation Electronic Warfare Branch, Directorate of Combat Developments, Fort Rucker, AL; Operations officer and Company Commander, 4-4 Aviation Regiment, Fort Carson, CO with deployment to Mogadishu, Somalia, and Platoon Leader, 3-1 Attack Aviation Regiment, Katterbach, Germany with deployment to Saudi Arabia/Iraq/Kuwait.
