FORT BELVOIR, VA – (April 5, 2010) On March 24, 2010, the Project Manager, Night Vision/Reconnaissance, Surveillance, and Target Acquisition (PM NV/RSTA) received notification that it won the prestigious Laureate Award. The Laureate Award is given by the Computerworld Honors Program. Computerworld is the leading source of technology news and information for IT influencers worldwide. Since 1988, the Computerworld Honors Program has recognized and documented technological achievements from around the world that promotes positive social, economic, and educational change. As a center of excellence for tactical sensor systems, PM NV/RSTA was well-positioned to apply for, and win the Laureate Award. Furthermore, by being recognized as a Laureate, PM NV/RSTA continues to position itself as the foremost expert on the definition, development, integration, and fielding of the most technologically-advanced, impactful, and ground-breaking sensor systems in the world.

To win this prestigious award, PM NV/RSTA was required to successfully complete each phase of the rigorous application process. First, PM NV/RSTA drafted and submitted a nomination application detailing the innovative, “game-changing” aspects of its most important information technology projects focused on the development and fielding of state-of-the-art sensor systems. Upon acceptance of its nomination, PM NV/RSTA then drafted and submitted an eight-page case study document that included a detailed description of the projects, their benefits to society, the role played by information technology in furthering the projects, and the ways in which their use of information technology is original or innovative.

As a Laureate winner, PM NV/RSTA’s achievements will be recognized publicly at the Laureate Medal Ceremony at the historic Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium in Washington, DC on June 7, 2010. During this ceremony, its case study will be formally inducted into the Program’s International Archives, and NV/RSTA Leadership will be presented with a medallion inscribed with the Program’s mission, “A Search for New Heroes.” During the Gala Awards Evening following the Medal Ceremony, PM NV/RSTA will join the other Laureates, the Chairmen’s Committee, and other industry luminaries as additional honors are given to 50 Finalists – five Laureates from each of the award categories, whose Case Studies were selected by Program Judges to be outstanding innovations within the information technology field.
